Ferrari are going through a decidedly negative period. The season started promisingly, with a very competitive SF-24, especially in race trim. Enrico Cardile, technical director of the chassis side, headed the technical office in Maranello in collaboration with Diego Tondi, head of Aerodynamics.

They work alongside the ‘beautiful 7’, who represent the pinnacle of the Scuderia Ferrari’s technical figures. Frederic Vasseur finds himself on the back foot, having to deal with the SF-24’s Barcelona upgrades not working.

These failed updates have put the Scuderia behind Red Bull, McLaren and Mercedes, far from contending for victories.

Behind the scenes, big moves continue in the market. Former Mercedes engineer Loic Serra will join Ferrari and play a prominent role. However, the Italian outfit has also lost a key figure, with Technical Director Enrico Cardile departing for Aston Martin.

THE SEPARATION BETWEEN FERRARI AND ITS TECHNICAL DIRECTOR, ENRICO CARDILE, IS OFFICIAL.

Since the rumours of negotiations between Cardile and the Silverstone-based team began, Vasseur has been pressed on this issue. Fred Vasseur has avoided giving a direct answer.

Only yesterday, he stated that“Enrico Cardile is still the technical director of Ferrari this evening”.

Less than 24 hours later, Cardile’s departure from the Maranello squad is now official. Below is the official statement from Scuderia Ferrari about the 49-year-old’s widely anticipated exit;

“Maranello, 8 July 2024 – Scuderia Ferrari HP announces that Enrico Cardile is leaving the company and, with it, the position of Technical Director of the Chassis Area.

“The engineer, who has been with Ferrari for almost two decades, has submitted his resignation and therefore, with immediate effect, the Chassis Area has been entrusted on an interim basis to the Team Principal, Frederic Vasseur.

“To Enrico Cardile, thanks from all of Scuderia Ferrari HP for his many years of constant commitment.”
