Lance Stroll extends Aston Martin contract

In perhaps the most predictable development of the driver market, Lance Stroll signs a new contract with Aston Martin. The Canadian driver’s position with the Silverstone-based team is cemented for the foreseeable future.

Lance Stroll’s position within the team is common knowledge. His father’s ownership of Aston Martin gives the 25-year-old a level of security that others can only aspire to.

Despite his lack of performance, especially compared to teammate Fernando Alonso, the British outfit is committed to Stroll.

Earlier in the year, team principal Mike Krack even said the entire project is built around Stroll.

The three-time podium finisher has released the following statement about his new contract:

“I’m super happy to have committed to staying with the team for 2025 and beyond.

“It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come in the last five years; we’ve grown so much as a team, and there’s still so much more to look forward to.”

Mike Krack has said the following:

“We are delighted to confirm Lance’s future with Aston Martin Aramco. He has played a key role in building this team.

“His technical feedback, alongside his committed simulator work, has helped contribute to the continuous development of the car each season.

“The consistency and stability of both Lance and Fernando remaining with our team is a great platform to continue to realise our ambitions.

“We look forward to creating some more incredible memories and achieving further success together.”

Despite speculation that Honda might influence Aston Martin’s driver lineup in 2026 and beyond, the Japanese manufacturer’s input seems minimal.

At least for now, Lawrence Stroll can keep his son in the team. This will maintain the status quo at the Silverstone-based team.

With driver contracts now finalised, the question is whether the technical team led by Dan Fallows can put the AMR24 back on track.
